Traffic officers are investigating a hit and run which resulted in the death of a man who was riding his bicycle home.

On July 31, 2019 at 1:10 AM, Officers responded to the area of Mission Blvd and Baker Avenue reference a possible hit and run involving a vehicle and bicyclist. A bystander found the bicyclist on the shoulder and called the police department. Medical personnel arrived at the scene and pronounced the bicyclist deceased. It was determined the bicyclist was traveling westbound on Mission Blvd and was struck by an unknown vehicle just west of Baker Avenue.… Read More

Ontario Police have arrested a man believed to be responsible for two stabbings that took place at De Anza Park and Cypress Park yesterday.

The first incident occurred at De Anza Park at approximately 10:20 AM when the suspect, David Joseph Moreno, age 27 of Ontario, used a knife to attack a man without provocation. The victim was able to fight off the attack but did receive a non-life threatening injury to his neck.

Moreno then drove to Cypress Park where he used a knife to attack a second male victim. Moreno knew the second victim prior to the attack. The male… Read More

Ontario, Calif. – On August 2, 2019, the Ontario Police Department will have officers out at local bars and restaurants to educate the public on how important it is to “know your limit.”

The “Know Your Limit” program is intended to inform the public on how little it takes to reach the legal limit for blood alcohol content (BAC), which is .08% in all states but Utah, where the BAC is .05%.

The campaign will be from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. in the city of Ontario. During this time, officers will invite volunteers to take a breathalyzer test to see if they can guess… Read More

Ontario’s Mayor and City Council would like to invite members of the community to attend this year’s National Night Out event on Tuesday, August 6, 2019. The festivities will begin with the “Party in the Park” at 5 PM at the Dorothy A. Quesada Community Center located at 1010 S. Bon View Avenue in Ontario.

The “Party in the Park” event is open to the public and will have entertainment, food, children’s games, and public safety and community service booths, including information on participating in Ontario’s Neighborhood Watch program.

The Ontario City Library was awarded a grant from the California State Library for $71,000 to pilot an early learning initiative for young children and their parents and caregivers. The initiative, Little Minds, Big Futures, will bring library staff to high-traffic neighborhood areas to provide services and resources to families with young children in the form of pop-up programs that will expand access to early childhood learning opportunities.
