The City of Ontario is urging residents and businesses to remain vigilant in practicing social distancing and exercising responsible behavior in order to flatten the COVID-19 curve as more detail emerges on the number of local cases.

On Monday, officials reported 111 confirmed cases in San Bernardino County – five of which were in Ontario. Throughout California, there are now more than 6,400 confirmed cases and 133 deaths, according to the latest statistics.

The City of Ontario has filed a public records request with the County of San Bernardino for information on where confirmed coronavirus are occurring.

So far, only countywide data has been released, which puts Ontario and other cities at a disadvantage when it comes to keeping their own communities informed and safe. Ontario Police have arrested a man for making criminal threats against a local high school.

Police were notified earlier this morning about a man who was making a threat to do harm to Ontario High School on a social media account. An acquaintance of the man saw the post and notified police of the pending threat. Investigators immediately began working the case and identified Julio Cesar Medina, age 23 of Ontario, as the person responsible for the post.

Ontario, CA - Ontario Police are investigating a shooting that led to the death of a 19-year-old Perris man, in the 100 block of West B St.

Police were called to the scene of the shooting Saturday night at 11:13 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered an unresponsive male with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Ontario Fire Department. Two additional shooting victims were later identified with non-life threatening injuries.
