Ontario Police investigators recovered $10,000 of stolen band equipment that was taken during a burglary at Ontario High School.
An OPD school resource officer reviewed hours of surveillance video which depicted two suspects and a vehicle involved in the theft. Suspect, Mark Souza, age 42 of Ontario, was contacted at his residence and fled from officers. He was apprehended a short time later with the use of a police service dog. Once in custody, Souza was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries which he sustained during the apprehension.
Two additional subjects were also arrested in connection with the theft. They were identified as Jeanne Lynne Zieffler, age 50 of Jurupa Valley and Rollin Roy Phillips, age 42 of Ontario. All three subjects were charged with burglary and booked at West Valley Detention Center.
The stolen music equipment was recovered from Souza’s address in the 700 block of West Philadelphia Street and returned to Ontario High School.
