City of Ontario Receives Outstanding Achievement in Local Government Innovation Award

May 11, 2017

On April 19, 2017, the City of Ontario received the Outstanding Achievement in Local Government Innovation Award for the submission “We’re M.A.D.” (Making A Difference).  The City was honored at the Transforming Local Government Conference in Tulsa, Oklahoma for creating a unique workplace environment that increases both productivity and enhances employee wellness.

The Administrative Services Agency of the City of Ontario has taken lead on this program to increase employee engagement in the workplace.  The Administrative Services Agency provides support services to the citizens of Ontario and other departments in the areas of financial services, procurement services, and revenue services.  The Agency also safeguards the City’s assets by establishing sound financial practices and procedures.

The core values of the M.A.D. program focus on the following: fun; friendship; healthy – mind, body, soul; whole person growth & learning; meaningful work; and higher purpose.  The City believes that by connecting with colleagues in a holistic manner, employees provide even greater service to the community we serve.

Each year, local governments are recognized at this conference from a diverse pool of the most innovative communities in the country from the Alliance for Innovation.  The innovation awards have evolved from their inception in 2004, to address a growing need to recognize and celebrate creativity, innovation and those who are implementing creative workplaces in local government.
