ACCORDION
KinderGo

KinderGo is an annual program designed to enhance educational attainment through city-wide literacy and library card awareness for Ontario’s kindergarten students. This program gives kindergarten students and families a personal invite to the library to ensure they are introduced to the services offered at the start of their child’s educational experience.

City staff visit kindergarten students in Ontario schools in the Ontario-Montclair School District, Mountain View School District, Chino Valley Unified School District, and Cucamonga School District. During the classroom visits, city staff share a fun read-aloud story and provide students with a KinderGo bag, wallet, and information on how to obtain a library card.

One Book One Ontario

READ…SHARE…DISCUSS

Inspired by the American Library Association’s “One Book, One Community” initiative, our One Book, One Ontario program (formally known as Ontario Reads) aims to unite the community through a shared reading experience. Each year, we select a book for everyone to read, fostering discussions and connections among participants. The programs are surrounded by book themes including engaging activities, guest speakers, and, occasionally, author meet-and-greets.

This year, we are excited to announce that The Measure by Nikki Erlick has been chosen for One Book, One Ontario. This novel delves into the profound impact on individuals and their relationships when faced with the knowledge of their life’s length or the choice to remain unaware. Join the Ontario City Library beginning on September 1st and continuing through September 30th as readers are encouraged to share their thoughts and impressions of The Measure by participating in themed programs and events held at both library branches.

*A limited number of free copies of the book will be available at our library branches while supplies last.*
