Just in case you missed it, the Ontario arena that you have known forever as Citizens Business Bank Arena had a renaming this past summer. As of July 1, 2019 the facility is now known as the Toyota Arena and has inked a 10-year naming rights deal. Although the facility has been renamed, Citizens Business Bank remains a partner.
Toyota Arena is the new name for the 10,000-seat facility, located where The 10 meets The 15 in the IE.
“We’re thrilled to be a part of the community and support this wonderful entertainment venue that has entertained so many families, sports fans, residents and visitors over the years,” said Cliff Cummings, President of the Southern California Toyota Dealers Association in a press release. “We look forward to an active and engaged partnership to continue building relationships through the best entertainment venue in the Inland Empire.”
Without missing a beat, the Arena has been very active with a number of concerts and even the Hot Wheels Monster Truck event that sold out. The Ontario Fury and Ontario Reign have announced their upcoming schedules.
They, along with the Aqua Caliente Clippers, proudly call the Toyota Arena their home.
It was March 7, 2007 when the Ontario City Council had a vision and began construction of the Arena. It was originally known as the Ontario Community Events Center -- and later renamed as the Citizens Business Bank Arena. The arena was suitable for a number of indoor events, to include basketball, hockey, soccer, football, boxing shows and concerts.
On October 24, 2008, the first event took place in front of a sold-out crowd of 10,316, for an NBA preseason game. The Los Angeles Lakers played and defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 105–94. Since that day, people have had an awesome experience. Some of the shows this year were once again of the highest caliber -- like Disney on Ice and Cirque du Soleil.
Concerts appealing to all genres from Toby Keith to Mark Anthony and Judas Priest are coming to town! The entertainment is endless. The Arena is the largest and most modern of its kind within the Inland Empire. And because it is the largest Arena in the Inland Empire – What does that mean? It means that people from Ontario and throughout the region come to cheer their professional sports teams on to victory.
The Toyota Arena, is a regional asset combined with the commercial and residential growth in Ontario and throughout the region. It is further complemented with other popular destination spots – like the Ontario Mills Mall and the Ontario Convention Center. Add in the Ontario International Airport and you know why it is the fastest-growing airport in the United States, handling more than 5 million passengers last year.
That’s up 12% from the year before and more than 20% since the airport was returned to local control in 2016. Relying on smart investments like the Arena, Airport and Convention Center that may be a part of our local community -- it serves a much larger audience beyond Ontario, the Inland Empire or even Southern California. We are a destination location.
