On Tuesday, October 24, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM, the Ovitt Family Community Library will host the world’s foremost expert on horror literature, Les Klinger. The author and literary historian will speak in the Library’s main meeting room about Mary Shelley’s classic gothic novel, Frankenstein, or The Modern Prometheus, and why we still read and enjoy it 200 years after it was first published.
This event is one of the last in the Ontario Reads series devoted to celebrating the anniversary of Frankenstein. Les Klinger is promoting his newest book The New Annotated Frankenstein, which examines the history and context behind the novel, including insights into the life of Mary Shelley, the cultural iconography of The Creature, and a foreword from Guillermo del Toro. Barnes & Noble will be on-site to sell copies of Les Klinger’s book and other featured Ontario Reads selections. The talk will be followed by a book signing. Light refreshments will be served.
The Ovitt Family Community Library is located at 215 E. C Street, Ontario, CA 91764. The New Annotated Frankenstein, as well as the original Mary Shelley novel in English and Spanish is available for checkout at both Ontario City Library locations.
