Police Recognize City’s National Night Out Award

January 04, 2018

Congratulations to the residents of the City of Ontario for being awarded 6th place in the National Night Out event, in Category 2, with populations from 100K- 300K. The award was received from the National Association of Town Watch, the sponsor of the national community crime and safety event.

National Night Out took place on August 1, 2017 and saw 16,337 communities across the country come together with local law enforcement to share smiles, food and reaffirm a vested interest to make neighborhoods safer.

In Ontario, Neighborhood Watch Group Block Parties took place in over 200 neighborhoods and regional city celebrations at 45 different locations. Ontario residents as well as travelers at the Ontario International Airport celebrated unity, police-community partnerships, crime prevention awareness, and community involvement with Ontario’s Mayor and City Council, representatives from regional agencies and the business community; including American Medical Response, the California Army National Guard, the California Highway Patrol, the Inland Valley Humane Society, and various City agencies including the Ontario Police and Fire Departments.

The Ontario Police Department appreciates and applauds all of the Ontario Neighborhood Watch groups and residents who have joined us in improving our communities and quality of life. Every year, National Night Out allows us to celebrate our bond and show our united pride in the City of Ontario.

The next National Night Out will take place on August 7, 2018.
