Officers from the Ontario Police Department cited four clerks for selling alcohol to minors on March 17, 2018. The actions were the result of a minor decoy operation in which minors, under the direct supervision of department investigators, attempted to purchase alcohol from 8 retail licensees in the City of Ontario.
Those who sold to the minor face a minimum fine of $250.00, and/or 24 to 32 hours of community service for a first violation. In addition, the Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) will take administrative action against the alcoholic beverage license of the business.
Store clerks from the following locations sold alcohol to minor decoys:
Wine Barrel Liquor – 2205 S. Euclid Ave
CVS – 2456 S. Grove Ave
99 Cents Only Store – 430 N. Mountain Ave
Rite Aid- 1050 N. Mountain Ave
Ontario PD and the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, will continue conducting decoy operations city-wide to reduce the availability of alcohol to minors. Operations will not only be conducted at grocery, liquor and convenient stores, but also restaurants, hotels and bars.
