City of Ontario Celebrates 2018 Independence Day

June 12, 2018

The City of Ontario will host several family friendly events on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 for all ages to enjoy.

The day will begin with the Annual Independence Day Parade at 9 AM along southbound Euclid Avenue beginning at Fourth Street and ending at B Street. Come celebrate all things red, white and blue with floats, marching bands, and community organizations as they parade down beautiful Euclid Avenue. Joining the Parade this year will be the Dublin All Stars Marching Band from Donaghmede, Dublin, Ireland. This year marks the Dublin All Stars Marching Band’s 30 years in existence and is celebrating with a visit to Ontario, California to partake in our Annual Independence Day Parade.

Following the Parade will be the All-States-Picnic at approximately 10:30 AM. This annual event has been an Ontario staple that dates as far back as 1916, when the original idea began at an Annual Chamber of Commerce Dinner where attendees sat in state groups. The All-States-Picnic has been a historic event surrounding the 4th of July where thousands of picnickers would gather along Ontario’s famous Euclid Avenue at the World’s Longest Picnic Table. Two miles of tables would be placed on the Euclid Avenue median where people from every state would meet to renew old friendships and make new ones. Today, Ontario is committed to preserving this historic event by continuing to line Euclid Avenue with picnic tables and flags for each state. Come celebrate this historic tradition and do not forget to bring your own picnic basket.

Also occurring following the Annual Independence Day Parade is Blast at the Ontario Town Square, which will feature a performance of patriotic music by the Ontario/Chaffey Community Show Band. This event will be held in downtown at Ontario Town Square, located at 224 N. Euclid Avenue.

In the evening, come to Westwind Park (located at 2455 E. Riverside Drive) for Family Festivities and the Annual Fireworks Spectacular. Gates at Westwind Park will open at 5 PM. The evening will be filled with live entertainment by the band ACE beginning at 6 PM with atmosphere entertainment performing throughout the park. Carnival games, bouncers, small rides, and food vendors will also be available at minimal cost. The Fireworks Spectacular will begin at 9 PM.

Possession and use of any fireworks within the City of Ontario is prohibited. The City of Ontario wants everyone to enjoy a safe Independence Day celebration and encourages all citizens to take advantage of the free Fireworks Spectacular at Westwind Park. Free parking and shuttles to Westwind Park are available at the Ontario Police Department parking lot (located at 2500 S. Archibald Avenue) throughout the evening.

All Independence Day events are free to attend and all ages are welcome. For more information, please visit www.ontarioca.gov/independence-day-2018 or call the City of Ontario’s Recreation & Community Services Department at (909) 395-2020.
