ReadyOntario is your one-stop shop for emergency preparedness. You will learn about what to do in an emergency, easy ways to get connected, and helpful guides to get you prepared. The city of Ontario encourages you to share ReadyOntario with others and help your friends and family get prepared. Check out the programming available to Ontario residents.
Real disasters don't look like movies. They look more like people coming together than falling apart. Ready Ontario is about moving Ontario residents to connect before the emergency - so we can be ready for when something does occur.
Through the Partners in Preparedness program, the Ontario Office of Emergency Management supports all organizations in preparing their employees, volunteers, services, and facilities for emergencies. By joining Partners in Preparedness, your organization shows its commitment to the safety and well-being of its staff, volunteers, customers, and community. Sign up for presentations HERE.
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is composed of community members trained to respond and assist the neighborhoods they live in after disaster strikes. Each prospective CERT member undertakes a 20-hour long training that teaches them to accomplish tasks such as fire safety, disaster medical operations, and search and rescue. After completion of training, new CERT members may start or join a CERT Neighborhood Group or apply to be an Ontario CERT volunteer.
The next CERT class is scheduled for November 1-3, 2019 and registration is currently open at ontarioca.gov/registration.
Ontario Emergency Communications Service (ECS) is a specialized detail within CERT tasked with providing auxiliary communications during special events and disasters. This team consists of trained and licensed amateur radio operators and is considered part of the Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES) for the City. Licensed amateur radio operators may participate in Ontario ECS weekly nets on Thursday evenings at 6 pm on 147.480 Simplex and 447.200 Duplex (minus offset / PL 114.8). For more information about Ontario ECS, please email k6ont@ontarioca.gov.
