Ontario Police Training

The Ontario Police Department takes pride in providing Law Enforcement Personnel with current, relevant, and applicable training.  Courses offered to outside agencies meet the requirements of California Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) and are POST certified.  This training is limited to Law Enforcement Officers who have completed their POST basic training and have passed their department’s probationary period.

 

ACCORDION
POST Aviation Course

 

This is a 40-hour POST course under Plan IV.  Airport Law Enforcement Officers are fully empowered sworn peace officers in the State of California under Penal Code Section 830.33(d) whose authority extends to anywhere in the state while engaged in the performance of their official duties. Airport Law Enforcement Officers' primary duties are to provide general and specialized law enforcement services in support of Federal counter-terrorism directives and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) screening and security operations.

The Ontario Police Department's POST Aviation Course meets the requirements of aviation security-specific training as required by California Penal Code Section 832.1.

POST Motor School

 

This is an 80-hour POST course under Plan IV. This course is designed to both mentally and physically prepare motor officers to safely and effectively operate a police motorcycle while performing a variety of law enforcement duties. Extensive time will be utilized by the course instructors towards building the students’ skill level as well as their confidence level when riding a police motorcycle. The course curriculum strongly emphasizes the safe, competent operation of the police motorcycle while paying particular attention to acceptable standards of rider capabilities and judgment. This is a "no brake" course in that the use of brakes is restricted to specific exercises that are the subject of braking and exercises specifically authorizing the use of brakes. The emphasis is on clutch-throttle control.
