Ontario Police Department will step up Bike & Pedestrian Safety Enforcement Operations on March 12, 2018 with focused enforcement on collision causing factors involving motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists.

The department has mapped out locations over the past three years where pedestrian and bike collisions have occurred along with the violations that led to those crashes. Extra officers will be on duty patrolling areas where bike and pedestrian traffic and crashes occur in an effort to lower deaths and injuries.

Police received information late Wednesday night regarding the battering of a duck by a young man. The abuse, which depicted the suspect using a golf club to strike a duck at the Whispering Lakes Golf Course in the City of Ontario, was captured on video and shared via social media.

Ontario Police immediately launched an investigation into the incident, which lead them to identify a 16-year-old male, believed to be responsible for the abuse of the duck. The remains of the duck were found.

Detectives are investigating what led up to a stabbing death of a Rialto man.

On February 7, 2018 at approximately 5:52 pm, police received a call of a stabbing in the 900 block of E. Deodar Street. Officers arrived on the scene and found a victim with numerous stab wounds. The victim was transported to a local area hospital where he died from his injuries. The victim was identified as 25 year-old Bernardo Vasquez of Rialto.
