The City of Ontario assesses certain Development Impact Fees (DIF) upon new development projects to recover the costs to the City for the future construction of public infrastructure, facilities, and improvements necessitated by increased development. DIF are collected at Building Permit issuance to ensure the City collects sufficient monies to construct the additional infrastructure needed to accommodate the growth of new residents and businesses. The DIF collected are utilized to finance public infrastructure, facilities, and improvements identified in the DIF Nexus Report.
